Not all php hosting plan support .htaccess overwrite. If you are going to require this feature, you should make sure your new hosting plan is supporting this .htaccess overwriting feature. Basically, most cpanel hosting plan have this feature. But site5 hosting is using backstage control panel, a custom made control panel by site5 hosting. And yes, its supporting .htaccess overwrite too!
This mean you can have .htaccess file implemented at site5 hosting. HTACCESS file can do url redirection, password protect directory, error page redirection etc, and many more features. Most common use is wordpress permalink which require .htaccess file customization.

After some time not goes to site5 control panel, i try today to login. And currently is using firefox. There is problem to open the site5 login page https://backstage.site5.com/ and loading is taking forever. I refresh it few times, and the problem is still the same. Finally i try to use internet explorer to login to the site5 backstage. I goes in immediately.
Wondering why the firefox is causing the login problem. And i try to login to site5 affiliate page as well. Its the same problem again. Firefox login failed again. And i try to search for similar problem from site5 forum discussion. So far i can’t find any other user is having the same problem.
Not sure this is temporary problem, or problem with my own firebox browser. Will try to get it reinstall etc and try again later.
